जिंदगी ये जिंदगी
जिंदगी ये जिंदगी,
बड़ी अजीब है जिंदगी।
मुझसे पूछ ऐ मुसाफिर,
मेरे कितने करीब है जिंदगी।
इस जिंदगी में,
सुख तो बहुत अपार है,
मगर साथ ही साथ,
दुख भी बारंबार है।
दुख की आवृत्ति,
अतीत की पुनरावृत्ति करती है।
दूर वहीं सुख की देवी,
सहमी सी बैठी रहती है।
जब मनुष्य की किस्मत,
उससे रूठ जाती है,
तब उसके हाथों से,
आशा का प्रकाश छूट जाता है।
कोई माने या न माने,
वो अंदर ही अंदर टूट जाता है।
ऐ पुरुष!
तू निःस्वार्थ पौरुष करता जा,
आँसू पोंछ,
काँटों को मत सहला,
मत ठंडी आहों से,
दिल को बहला।
क्योंकि यह जिंदगी है प्यारे,
ये वफ़ा की कसम क्या निभाएगी,
और अंत में,
एक दिन दगा कर जाएगी।

Life, O Life
Life, O life,
How strange and unpredictable you are.
Ask me, O traveler,
How closely I have known you.
Life offers immense happiness,
Yet sorrow returns repeatedly.

The light of hope slips away.
